There is a Turkish makam Neva, which shares some similarity with Beyati, but has a different seyir (melodic direction). I always wondered if Arabic Bayyati Nawa was at one point related to Turkish Neva... any thoughts?

There is a maqam that arabs and iraqis use called nawa too, it is built on maqam bayati but closes each time on the Nawa (g)
