Kyvelos ouds

Hi everyone,
I play a 1984 Peter Kyvelos oud given to me by my teacher, Al Shavarsh Bardezbanian...I think Mr. Kyvelos' ouds are the best being made today, in the tradition of Karibyan and Monol...anyone else play these beautiful instruments? Just wanted to hear from others who may have one of these ouds...Amos

Hi Udi Amos,

Thanks for re-posting this message. Your oud teacher is a NICE guy! Wow, I can't believe he just gave you a Kyvelos oud. Anyway, I know a guy who plays one, and it is a stunning instrument. At first he had the dip in the face, but later he removed it. Does yours have that dip in it. I wonder if he was making them that way back in the 80's? Is there anyway we can see a picture or pictures of your oud?

Take care,
Mike

Hi mike,
well, my oud teacher is a nice guy, but he didnt just give me the oud...there is a financial end to the exchange, although he certainly is helping to make it easier for me to afford such a lovely instrument...
To answer your question, my oud does not have a dip in the face...did your friend have Peter do the work on the oud or did he do it himself?
I will try to get a photo of my oud, and I will post it here. Thanks for the reply and all the best with your practice.

Hi Udi Amos,

My friend took it back to Mr. Kyvelos to do the actual work. He ordered the oud from him, and he took it with him when he went to visit his mom for the holidays in Boston. Anyway, looking forward to seeing pictures of the oud!

Mike

Sorry if this is repetition, but I just want to say I love Mr. Kyvelos' ouds. I hope one day to own one for myself.

Enjoy yours with health.

Take care.
