Hello everyone,

Congratulations! You've just ruined your oud. Never, never, never sand the face or apply any oil based stain or finish. The face should be left bare and sealed with egg white only. Any other finish will diminish the sound and sanding will just remove the wood that was designed to withstand the string pressure, compromising the structural integrity of the instrument Next time ask a luthier BEFORE attempting to modify your instrument in any way.

Use alcohol with a soft cloth to remove stains, or learn to live with it.
