Mood: Feeling Pretty G'Oud

...beautiful!
The lyrics seems like the original author may have been thinking of 'song of solomon', not a direct quote, but thematically. ie, opening the gate, lying between breasts, bride, my friend, my love.
This is drop tuned 3 semitones in DGAdgc? I'd like this one. thanx for posting. Does anyone have the sheet music?

The piyyut was composed by the medieval Sephardic Jewish poet & philosopher Shlomo ibn Gabirol and does indeed draw on the thematic language of the Song of Songs. I can't tell you anything about the melody other than I suspect it dates from much, much later. I'd love to find out more about it. The link below mentions that at least in the Moroccan Jewish community, this piyyut was sung to many different melodies depending on the Torah portion of the week (i.e., in many Middle Eastern Jewish communities, each of the weekly Torah portions was set to a particular maqām), so there could be many other melodies for it out there, but this one is particularly attractive.

Anyway, here's a link to the lyrics in Hebrew w/transliteration and English translation.

Thanx for that!
My lovely wife has helped me transcribe what we could. I will post soon.

I tried my own translation using song of songs as a guide.

Alternate suggested translation of the Hebrew(MattOud):

Gate(Song of Songs 7:4) which is closed…Rise up, Open it
And the Roe(cp. or glory Isa 28:1) which makes haste(Song 8:14)…Send him to my side
To the day of your coming adorned…To the laying betwixt my breasts(Song 1:13)
That of your good smell …lifts up, clinging to me
What’s this resembling your beloved?…A beautifully shaped spouse
{?*** The one you have asked me to send?}
He with fair eyes ….Ruddy and good looking
That is my beloved shepherd …Arise and anoint him
