Porcupine quill plectrums

I acquired a bunch of porcupine quills last week (probably roadkill, from the side of a road near Bologna).

Before I pass them all on to my wife to use in millinery - can they be made to work as oud plectrums?

Never mind the quills, what did you do with all that delicious bologna you found by the porcupine?!

I didn't even see the rest of the porcupine.

It was a complete surprise to me that they could be found in Italy. Like finding a hyena rummaging through my bin in Scotland.

Anyway, I've got a lot of the quills and they look neat.
