2009 FATHI AMIN EGYPTIAN OUD

2009 FATHI AMIN EGYPTIAN OUD

If you’re looking to upgrade to a higher quality oud, or if you’re passionate about collecting high quality ouds in general, then you don’t want to miss out on the chance to acquire this beautiful instrument!

After a lot of thinking and careful consideration, I have decided to pass on my 2009 Fathi Amin Egyptian oud to another home. It was not an easy decision to make because I had made several significant recordings with this instrument as well as it being an integral part of my journey as an oud player, but I have gotten used to playing my other 7-course floating bridge oud, and I am looking to get a 7-course fixed bridge oud, so I won’t be needing to keep the Fathi Amin oud.

If I were a collector I would never sell it, but seeing as I would have two other ouds that I would play more, I would like to pass this one to someone who would play it. That's what instruments are made for. So as hard as it will be to part with it, I wish to share the love!

Fathi Amin passed away in 2013 so these ouds are no longer being made. Even though his son Sayed continues the family tradition, the son’s ouds are simply not the same as the father’s.

As you can see in the photos, this oud is made with breathtaking craftsmanship and design, including gorgeous seashell inlays around the three rosettes, as well as all over the borders of the bowl and the neck. I tried to capture it as best I can but you’ll really have to see it in person to see how the colors change with the light reflection.

The oud is fitted with a Schatten HFN-S2 pickup, paired with a Fishman Aura Preamp, known for its onboard Imaging systems. Really high-quality electronics that allow you to plug into any amp or PA system and amplify the oud’s sound without having to worry about feedback issues.

The oud also comes with a hardshell fiberglass Sukkar case which has up to three latches that can be locked by key, to keep the oud well protected. It even acts as a stand for the oud when it is opened!

You can get an idea of what the oud sounds like by listening to some of the recordings that I made with it at the links below:
