Toying with my oud

Here's a sample I recorded a few days ago I added a effect to make it seems like Iam playing a large hall. Hope you enjoy it :wavey:

Samir, you sound better every time I hear you. Good job my friend. Whats the name of that tune? Also, you mentioned something about some kind of software a few weeks back. Could you tell me about via email: revaldo29@gmail.com

Thanks Adnan,
Your too kind.
I'll send you the info for the program shortly. Stay tuned bro.
Oh, and the song is ya msaharni from Oum Koulthoum.

Amos,
Thanks for your compliments although I feel like I have a lot of catching up to do to get to your level. I love what you have recorded. By the way do you create a loop for you percussions? or do you just play the derbake (tabla) well enough to follow through the entire peice? Oh and I used a recently purchased shehata oud for this recording. Altough I dont like the Labella strings that came with it. There way to thin for my liking so Iam going to put on some Aquilas this week and see how it reacts. The nylons are fine on the Labella but its the wound strings that just dont work for this oud.

Thanks Samir

Samir,
Thanks man. I record the derbeke as a separate track...I play the oud first and then the drum.
i also have a shehata oud, but it has structural problems that make it unplayable. i bought it from a person who did not tell me about the problems before selling it to me...it's very sad because the oud is so beautiful looking but i cannot play it!
anyway thanks very much for your kindness and please keep posting your beautiful playing!

I remember that episode full well. Iam shure someone like mr.Kyvelos, Mr.Najarian or Doc Oud could be able to fix the oud. Only it could be that its not worth it. Well you have a nice sounding oud anyways so its not keeping you from playing.
Cheers.

Hi Samir

I Like the idea of the effect and I liked the gentleness of the rish ... I have two comments though if you do not mind.

- The echo was too much for the this type of song.
- The oud did not sing the song accuratly enough.

With oum Kolthom songs Echo was never used so when you used it you put too much. If you still have the original try to add less echo and listen to it. I am sure you gonna like it better.

Also you needed to practice playing this song as if you were going to sing it. I noticed that you do not finish some of the words with your music. You kind of rushed some words as you played.

I hope my comments would build your playing not to disappoint you.

Kind Regards,
