New oud Farid el Atrache wana be

Hello I bought this oud off ebay for verry little money concidering the quality. Walnut bowl verry well made, bone nut, low action. The only thing Iam planing on changing down the road is the pegs and that glossy varnish all over the face maybe the fingerboard if I notice that the walnut fingerboard is getting groved in.

Anyhow I bought it to bring with me at picnics etc...

Its an egyptian oud made by Ahmad Abdelhalim.
Altough it says Mohamed Fadel and sons is the maker I know its not the case because of the trademark "raqma"

Iam trying to pull of a little Farido but obviously Iam not there yet I am gona keep trying though.

What do you think of the sound? and the playing (please I need to improve and I need your input)

Good job Samir! How did you tune your oud to play farido? Peppeo.

Ciao ragazzi
I have a needle tuner which has -50 -25 0 25 50
the closer you get to 0 the more on pitch your note is.
Well I let the needle rest at -25.
It sounds good on all the ouds I tried it on.

Wouldn't the fingering annoy you (somewhat) ?

The oud sounds good!

The fingering remains the same... Just the tuning is a bit droped
This tuning is proving to be the most versatile and Iam starting to notice that most professional players of arabic oud tune this way.
Farid el atrache, Ryadh Sumbati and the new players too. Abadi el Johar, Naseer shamma, and on and on...

About the fingering being anoying you may be refering to playing Hijaz-Kar wich is to me the most difficult maqam to get the right intonation with the transition using your pinky down the A string. Its tricky to get.
