Mohammed El-Qasabji

Hi folks

Did El-Qasabji do much in the way of solo oud playing? I've only heard the three tracks on zeryab.com, and I liked what I heard. There doesn't seem to be an awful lot about him on the internet either.

Cheers

Hi chuckerbutty :wavey:

Yeah you are right about what you think. He seems to have lived in a hiding place. Usually he used to play live with Um Kolthoum and he also wrote heaps of songs for her to sing. He is actaully a great oudist by all means be he did seek fame I guess.

I can not wait to visit Egypt just to get some of his work and work for many others too.

Regards,

Emad
