Oud and Travel VERY IMPORTANT

Hey guys I am leaving going to the UAE in a fwe days and want to take my oud with me. Could someone please advise me of what to do. I know most of the people here travel and may carry an oud with them. Is it allowed on the aircraft? also if i was to take it on to the aircraft should I put it in its hard case or a soft case. The softcast and hard case will be reinforced with bubble wrap and sponges. If there is anything else anyone can tell me it would be great. Thx alot guys

Cheers
Lui

I've ben able to stow an oud in the above-seat baggage compartment in a hard case. NEVER use a soft case for this, as some jerk is liable to jam his suitcase in at the last minute and risk breaking your precious oud. The other thing I've done is to politely ask the flight atendant to put the oud in the front closet.
