Sedaraban Saz Semai by Cemil Bey...anyone have the 78?

Hey all,

this is probably a long shot but i'm wondering if anyone has an actual 78 record of Tanburi Cemil's Sedaraban Saz Semaisi recording.

i have the Traditional Crossroads CD that has this reissued. I'm trying to figure out what's going on in the 4th hane.

at the beginning of the 4th hane the reissue sounds like it comes in really late which makes me wonder if TC had a bad tracking disc so they just edited it out.

I'd love to hear it if anyone has one.

Thanks!

Adam

It's not Tanburi Cemil himself but try this:

The ud player is Bacanos and the violinist Kemani Nubar (Comlekciyan).

There is actually an intro to this with Sedaraban taksim by Bacanos:

I should warn you that these tracks were first transferred from 78 to casette tape and then from casette to mp3. Still not too bad though.

Hey very cool you share those tracks with us I've never heard them before, deserving of the following emoticons:

:applause: :xtreme: :buttrock: :airguitar:

slightly interesting, they begin the piece from the second phrase, leaving out the first. the whole performcance is pretty modern, maybe made in the 30s or 40s? i'm just guessin. more analyzing just cuz i think it's interesting...i hear ud, violin, kemençe?? and is there a 4th instrument?

Glad you liked it. I like what they do at the last teslim. I think you are right Adam about the instruments, it sounds like a kemence in there too, as well as a cello.
