Oud of Sanaa??
I recently heard some music from Yemen played by Kassal el Ashak, on the oud of Sanaa (please excuse my phonetic spelling) on local co-op radio.
This is a four course oud from Yemen that supposedly predates the modern oud. It certainly sounded more primative, but nice. Does anyone know
more about this type of oud, how its tuned, are they still being made, would it be related to the ancient Persian barbat ?/? Maybe
someone has a sound clip to post of this interesting instrument?
