Which oud case to buy?
I am currently looking for a decent oud case for my new Sukar oud. As I haven't made any experience with oud cases yet, I thought it would be better
to get some advice from you first before buying randomly any case. As far as I know there are two kind of cases: the soft ones and the hard ones.
Which one would you rather recommend? My requirements on the oud case: it should be stable and robust in order to protect the oud properly but it
should also be easy to carry. Do you have any special recommendations or suggestions in this regard?
What do you think of this Rockbag oud case?

well it's made for turkish ouds. make sure it fits your oud b4 buying it.
although sukar cases could be made a lot better, i have been using it and had no problem with it. i use to travel from Karaj to Tehran via the crowded
subway 4 times a week to get to my class and band practice location. but my ouds are still alive and healthy
The Oud is my life, n my life is the Oud

Jody, how much are you selling you case for? Is it in good conditions? And would it fit a Fathy Amin big-bowled like the old style Egyptian ouds?

Hey guys,
well, I'm located in Germany. I know that the Rockbag case is actually made for Turkish ouds but it could also fit my oud. I probably have to check
the measurements of my oud first. Are there other particularly recommendable soft cases for Arabic ouds?

A little pricey, but they do look lovely and functional:

As to practicality, I like my Sukar cases.
Neither is suitable for the baggage hold, but the Sukar
can take some overhead bin knocks and do just fine. The
Khalaf is much prettier, and undoubtedly lighter, but the
sukar seems to add less space.

@fernand: I've already considered the the khalaf oud case but unfortunately they ship from the U.S. Since I am located in Germany shipping costs,
customs duty and the actual price of the oud case altogether wouldn't be worth it, I guess.
That's why I've decided for the above Rockbag case. The measurements should fit my Sukar oud. If not, I still have the option to return it and get a
refund. Once I receive the bag, I'll tell you more.

I have no experience with the Rockbag oud cases, but I have had one of Jameel's/Khalaf oud gig bags for about 6 years now and though it may cost more
that the Rockbag it is worth every penny. It is excellent, top quality, and has protected my oud in various situations, from on a bike, on a bus, on a
train, to a long haul flight. However if budget is a factor, then maybe the Rockbag will work for you. Let us know how you find the Rockbag or any
other should you purchase one- regards, MW
