Another Saz Question ;)
Hi There,
I posted a while ago regarding a Saz for sale... and the owner was asking too much for it, so I didn't end up buying it.
Now another person is selling a Saz for around $200 (AUS).
He said it was bought in from Turkey around 2004.
I was wondering if someone could have a wee look at the attached pics to see if this is a good deal or not. One pic shows some dirt marks on the front
of the saz.. the owner said he has cleaned them off since the picture was taken.
I'm sorry this is not an Oud question, but any help would be most apprecaited
Big Thanks,
Anthony

Hi Anthony,
This looks identical to mine. A very inexpensive instrument, but it plays well enough for my standard of saz playing.
AU$200 sounds okay, considering you don't have to ship it from Turkey.

Greg

This looks very similar to a long necked saz I purchased in California, and like we see advertised on e-bay out of Turkey, marked up to around $200
US. So, like Greg said, considering you don't have to ship it, it's probably priced about right. Just make sure the neck is straight.

Hi Fernandraynaud,
I am not far away from the bay area right now. Sitting in a LAX hotel ready to fly back to Oz tomorrow.
Been in the States for week or so, but mostly in the south and the east.
Regards,
Greg

Hi, Greg, sorry if you didn't get to see the San Francisco area, it's very different from LA. We're a bit less extrovert up here, the city is more
metro, more centralized, and I think in better taste.

Sorry to hijack your thread, Anthony.
Fernandraynaud, I like San Francisco very much, but not enough time to visit on this occasion.

I bought a saz from these folks a while back and the quality was OK - a little rough in spots - no string grooves were cut in the nut but I was able
to fix that in 5 minutes with an x-acto knife. Action and sound quality were fine.
