Selling my Sukar Oud

I'm located in Boston and looking to sell my oud.

made by Sukar (model no. 10) and *very* well taken care of. It sounds really good and if you are nearby you should check it out. Its neck has a bolt-nuts that can be adjusted.

here are some pics, for any questions drop me a line and will take it from there.

Price : $600 o.b.o.
approx. shipping and packaging depending on location but about = $80
on UPS. I can check with other carriers if you like.

you can contact me on my email (mkhabbaz - at - gmail.com)

Edit :
price is changed to $500 + shipping

Hey Folks

I have a Sukar which gets better and better, so am not looking for another.

They are very reliable and have a deep dependable Arabic sound and at only $600 I am sure who ever buys this one will not be disappointed.

Best Wishes, Charlie

I have both bought and sold using paypal... Just keep in mind that paypal charges a fee for the seller. Also, you can sell on Ebay, but they will charge a % of the sale... So you pretty much would have to ask for about 20% more. Also, make sure the oud is well packed and make sure to have the package signed for and then you have proof of receipt. Also, I don't know about others, but for the oud I sold, I pretty much told the guy if there was any damage in shipping, I would offer a full refund (minus shipping costs) contingent on return of the oud. With that being said up front, it was an easy transaction. Also, I included the price of shipping in the overall offer... but that was because I had an idea of what it would cost to send 3 day.

By the way, that's a REALLY good looking oud above... I have owned 3 sukar ouds (down to one now) and LOVE them... Do you include the hard plastic case as well?

Good luck with the sale... it shouldn't sit too long... The priceing is really fair (Like Charlie said)... Not super cheap but not over the top either... seems just right.

Thanks Christian,
I'll check ebay and paypal.I like the refund policy and I might go for that. It sounds fair and reasonable.

Someone asked me for a sound file, once its available I will be able to send it to who ever is interested.

Happy holidays everyone (Thanksgiving & Eid) :)

One of the most underrated features of Sukar's oud is the adjustable action mechanism. Any action you want. As I've said many times on this forum, I cannot understand why this is not a more common feature. It is extremely secure and easy to adjust and means that you will NEVER encounter problems with rising action. It is the most musician centered development in the history of oud construction.

Bravo Mr Sukar

With the oud a good feature is generally an invisible feature. Sukar's neck adjustment is true to that spirit.

I should add that the adjustment is subtle and people should not expect extreme ranges, just a couple mm up and down at the neck-body junction. The mechanism is a bit mysterious. You are looking at the body-neck junction from the inside, on a Model 1, with the darker fingerboard embedded in the soundboard on the "floor". Most likely the neck is pulled towards the body by the bolt yet articulated on two nail-pins that fit in the holes we see, with something resting against the small vertical nail that's always (barely) visible in the neck near the bowl. As we tighten the butterfly nut, the neck is pulled in but also is pulled "down", slightly away from being perfectly level with the soundboard. This slightly lowers the action at the neck/body junction. The articulation area is covered by a wooden ring, invisible.

[file]12742[/file] [file]12744[/file]

Another innovation is the bracing. Mr. Sukar has designed a tuned soundboard-bowl standard that is apparently reliably repeatable and rings like a MF throughout the oud's range.

Lower Price

Hi again,

Because the Oud does not include a hard case,
I am changing the asking price to $500 + shipping.

Happy christmas / holidays / new years for everyone.

Is this Oud still for sale? I just posted a request for information for a reliable source for a model 213 into Canada, the 210 is not too far off.
