Hi,

I'm not 100% shure, but I think he nearly always tunes his oud to FF-AA-DD-gg-cc-ff.

i cant watch the videos right now, but he uses arabic tuning as i know: D-G-A-D-G-C

of course the lower D can be changed to C, n the lower G can be changed to F or E

HERE it's said, he uses FF-CC-dd-gg-cc-ff (FA-DO-re-sol-do-fa).

That seems to fit your findings.

well as i saw in a lot of videos like this or this, the lowest string is single. so at least im sure the lowest string cant be FF, coz its just one string!!! n thats why i guessed that tuning.

Yes you're right ... but it could be F instead of FF.

Let's wait a bit, maybe someone knows it exactly.

you know, ive never searched for the tuning he use n ive never care, simply coz i cant play what he plays!!!

n come on guys!!!
now a days we have 13 string ouds, so lets forget these tuning stuff.

this is the persian/arabic tuning for a 13 string oud: D-G-A-D-G-C-F
on a 12 or 11 string oud, we use the lowest D or highest F. dont we? n we tune the bass string(D & G) regarding to the scale/makam/dastgah we are playin' (C,D & E,F,G). so pls don make it complicated to persian, iraqi, egyptian, neanderthalian, mercurian,... tunings!!! all of them are almost the same in the melodic strings.

plus we have a turkish tuning n thats all. do u agree with me?

Naseer Shamma is using:
Bass F C D G C F trebles

But often there is some variation in tuning on his recordings. I mean the interval between strings keep the same but with variation of tune a bit higher or lower:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htO8k34E7G8
Around 50 cents up, I mean his C between the C and the C#

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4hG5o4Idhc
A whole tone down, the C became a Bb, the F a Eb, the G a F...etc

Yes, but if Misusel wants to try playing songs Aseer plays ... maybe it's really better to use the same tuning. I can understand, that he wants to try it.

of course its needed to use the same tuning, i mean naming the tuning. its a lil confusing. i think those tunings dont have enough differences to have different names. the most parts are the same.

When I started to get interested in oud, I got totally confused by all this different tunings ... the guitar has mainly one.

It would be easier, if these tunings would have names, yes ... if we could talk of Egyptian, Iraqui, etc. for example.

But who cares ... we get used to it ;)
