Need advice

Hi guys.

Does anyone have any experience dealing with Palmyrami before?

Here's the situation.
I am considering making a deal with them on a Sukar Oud Model 1. Palmyrami does not have any Sukar Oud currently in stock so they offered to transport the Sukar Oud directly out of Syria from the manufacturer to me.

Has anyone ever made this kind of transaction before?
I need advice.

Thanks.

I am also in the process of purchasing a Sukar oud from them, in the same way. There was a delay in the shipping, but it has now been shipped.

Update: All went well. The oud arrived very well packed and in excellent condition. I am fully satisfied with my purchase from this company.

I bought a model 14 from them three days ago in the same way. It was shipped yesterday from Syria using Syrian Post and I was sent a tracking number. At the moment it is at the postal exchange and has undergone 'insert item into bag' :D

Will let you know when it has been delivered (they quoted a time of 3 weeks) but they seem true to their word

Please post the results of your experience purchasing from Palmyrami; I am also considering buying a Sukar 212 from them.
Thanks

My experience dealing with Palmyrami:

I came across their website, and decided to order a Sukar Model 1 from them.
I clarified with them a number of stuff through a series of emails, confirming my order, the kind or postal service they are using, etc. After everything was confirmed, i placed my order and made the payment though paypal. It took roughly 3 weeks for the oud to reach me. It came in a huge brown cardboard box packaging. Inside it was the hardcase and inside the hardcase was the oud.

A number of things i was not satisfied with:
1) the hardcase was full of scratches and the 'hinges' were falling apart.
2) i had trouble tracking down my order through the website of the postal service they used.

All in all, the oud is fine. I believe the people in Palmyrami are good people. They are fast to reply to your emails and they seem sincere.

Based on a number of transactions, without going into details, without maligning or praising specific vendors, and without providing a simplistic answer, my previous post on buying from the Middle East about "when things go well, all is well, when there are problems, things get difficult" is the best and most carefully considered advice I can give. That's the core issue. Please don't take this lightly, and cover your bases.

I had the same problem as ASAL: the hardcase was full of scratches and the 'hinges' were falling apart.

But they made everything OK by compensating for the problems (even though it took a while).

I, for one, would never buy a musical instrument without trying it first (and speaking with the maker).

Goog luck
