Hi Chris

I think that's standard CFADGC tuning.

Pretty sure, Chris - some people do double up the bottom (pitch) string. Although I'm not sure he uses is in the video (didn't see the whole thing) - that piece only goes down to bottom G, so it might be tuned to something else.

He said it in marocan/french it's a D on the second position of the first string, it's standard tuning CFADGC.

Is it a Belhaiba? wonderful powerfull sound!

Hi Chris & all :wavey:

This piece is in the form of a European Baroque gigue (jig). Similar to those composed by J.S. Bach (1685-1750) found in his suites for solo cello, solo lute and in his sonatas and partitas for solo violin. It sounds very familiar and may even be a Bach composition. Nicely done here on the oud, also notice how it is played in western major scale throughout, it would sound foul, really out of tune if Arabic scales and intervals were used instead. Lovely playing but with respect would sound even nicer on classical/Spanish guitar, or other fretted instrument.

Best Wishes, Charlie
