oud competition in Tunisia
hello everybody
I would like to present to you an event that will take place in Tunisia, it's very interesting for OUd players : a competition of solo playing will
take place during the carthage musical days.

to participate you can submit an instrumental composition or a program of solo playing on Oud.
important prizes will be given the the winners

je voudrais vous présenter les journées musicales de Carthage dans sa première édition qui se tiendra a Tunis
cette édition comprend trois types de compétitions :
une compétition pour les chansons
une compétition pour les pièces composées
une compétition pour les solos de OUD
des prix forts intéressants sont à gagner
vous trouvez ci-joint les détails pour s'inscrire et les détails des prix et des dates limites pour l'inscription
n'hesitez pas c'est une occasion pour se faire connaitre et de defier des musiciens des quarte coins du monde arabe

Mais alors ce n'est pas un festival international? J'aurais (peut-etre) voulu y prendre part (du cote composition), mais si le site et tous les
documents sont publies exclusivement en Arabe, ca limite quand meme! Oh, ce ne sont peut-etre pas mes affaires, mais c'est dommage. Vous ne trouvez
pas, vu que le oud prend une place de plus en plus importante sur l'arene mondiale?
Il y a pas mal de musiciens de tous les pays qui, bien qu'ils ne soient pas d'origine Arabe et ne connaissent pas la langue, s'interessent a la
musique de Maqam, l'etudient avec respect, et sont devoues au oud! Dans mon cas, le simple fait que je joue du oud m'a, petit a petit, rapproche avec
sympathie, voire amour, au monde Arabe, c'est un bon signe, et il me semble qu'un festival de ce genre devrait attirer des participants (bien
plus qualifies que moi!) de notre planete entiere.

Hi Fernand!
I think that they stated "Arab countries", because they maybe do not know that there are players from other countres. I don't think it is crucial.
And anyway, it is till the age of 35. How r d things going, by d way?

Il ne fait que rapporter les faits il n'est pas celui qui organise le festival et tu juges un peu trop vite à mon avis, respire un coup et encourage
les, ils n'ont pas fait exprès de dire que c'est une compétition arabe, avais-tu vraiment l’intention de participer???

Mais je n'accuse personne! Je voulais simplement exprimer ce que j'ai dit, justement que j'encourage une vision mondiale! Oui, de mon coté, j'avais
pensé que ca serait interressant d'essayer une partition pour oud et piano, s'il y avait assez de temps. Si c'est limité aux moins de 35 ans (et si
ce n'etait pas dit qu'en Arabe je l'aurais su), je suis de toute façon exclu.

Probably you should learn arabic; you will increse your knowledge about arabic music.
If you need any assistance of traduction, let me know...
eventhough, nowadays google translate, babylone,....and many other websites and softwares are availables...

Thanks for the suggestion, mrkmni, I would love to. I'm not opposed to it, i'm native in 3 languages, and can read or babble in 4 more with some use
of dictionaries, with a 5th one sneaking in. It's starting to get mashed. If i spend time in italy, my Italian improves, but my German pops up
unexpectedly as i'm trying to ask a question in Spanish. And none of them are Semitic languages. My father interestingly embarked on a bible
translation project at and taught himself enough Greek and Hebrew to get by at age 75, it can be done, but I somehow doubt I could learn enough Arabic
for it to be really useful. Let's say I learn some basic written Arabic, how is it going to help? Or if I learn some spoken ? Arabic? My friend
Richard H. and I were looking for a Russian Christmas Mass in New York, and the Arabic taxi driver was not very helpful, and muttering to himself, so
Richard asked him in his fluent Arabic if he would stop talking to Jinns and please help us. The reaction? He said to Richard "haha, you talk like an
Egyptian."
