buzz around bridge area
Hi all lutemakers/oudmakers
my oud started to make buzzes, 
It's located around the bridge, when i put my hand firmly on it it stops.. I change the strings but no effect, but when i play the oud with the
soundboard facing the the floor there's no buzz. Do you think it may come from the braces ( i tried to check with little knocks on soundboard but not
sure to hear the loose brace if any) or it's a string/bridge issue?
Any suggestions most welcomed !

Hi,
Normally, Strings buzzing comes from Finger board, specially if the Finger board is not sanded and smooth enough or the strings are very low,
touching the finger board. But this is not your case....
Buzzing from sound board comes from three sources:
1. loose Braces
2. Cracked sound board
3. Qamriyya/Eyoun if it is badly glued to the hole of the oud.

Hi Tarbool,
didn't you changed recently the strings?
I have an oud on which a buzzing sometimes occured, the time the new strings settle. Then it totally disappear.
To the structural problem said by Dubai244, I would add the bridge if it becomes unglued, that sometimes happen. You can check with a sheet of paper
to check if there is some space between the bridge and the sounboard.

Hi,
thx for advices , I just noticed that the main Qamriyya is not perfectly glued, but not sure that's the reason cause buzz is 2 cm front of the
bridge.. Any advice to find the loose braces (without removing the soundboard...) ? Regarding the strings suzidil i knew already about it but
unfortunatly it arrived before and after changing them..anyway thx for helping.

A loose brace would need at least to remove the rosette for a repair.
Is it really sure it is not coming from this bad glued rosette? Try to put a piece of paper to fill the gap between the rosette and the soundboard and
see if the buzz still occur.

still buzzing with the paper filling the gap  .. i'll go to the luthier to fix
the problem.. costly but i don't know how to make it myself..

Hi guys,
just come back to ask you some help : i went to the luthier, he replaced a cracked brace under the bridge (it was unglued also), i came back happy,
but ... crap there is still buzz on the bridge area, it seems that the strings starts to produce this buzz afet maybe 1à min of practice s if the
wood was warm enough to vibrate in harmony... how can i fix this ? Put a piece of something (leather?) between the strings and the bridge could be a
good solution ? I checked the bridge , it's not unglued anywhere so i don't understand...

not sure if this is your case, but have you clipped the ends of the strings that terminate behind the bridge? they should be short. always good to
check the simple stuff first

Yep i clipped them... i think i may go back to the workshop....

if you have rosettes, make sure they are glued in properly or that they are not broken.
in my experience that is the second biggest reason for buzzing after a loose brace. if you want to test it, play the string to make the buzz and then
ask someone to press on the rosette with there finger. Play again with the person's finger on the rosette... if there is no more buzzing you may have
found your problem.
then, make sure the strings arent unwound at the bridge or at the nut. Also, make sure the strings dont touch eachother in the pegbox in a way that
makes them vibrate sympathetically.
if that doesnt do it.... take it to a oud luthier.

I've actually had buzzing at the nut seem like it was coming from bridge area. The grooves for the strings werent filed properly.
