wow - some awesome ouds. such beauties!
i can't wait to own one of these masterpieces someday (depends on my playing skills and progression of my playing. a turunz oud will be my reward ;) ).

why is the soundboard of the double soundboard ouds so much darker then that of the single ones?
thanks for answer.

Hi ultragroove! Many thanks for your praising words. I am making the Double Soundboards mostly out of Canadian Cedar and applying French Polish on them. French Polish turns the color darker which is already quite dark when it is unfinished.

Kind regards...

I have an Arabic oud created by Faruk Turunz.
It is art of understated elegance.

As I compare the sound character of the Turunz oud to the other ouds I have, I notice the distinct focused quality of the tones - very clean, pure and grounded, while still resonant and projected.
This characteristic may be preferred by some, in contrast to ouds that display a grittier, more echoey/airy quality.

Thank you, Faruk, for the research and technology you have invested into the art of oudmaking.
It is a pleasure to be in the company of your oud.

Thank you oudistcamp. I especially concentrated on so called "Arabic, or Arabian" sound for almost five years and found out that there is no any standard "Arabic" sound. Despite one of the aspects of reality seems to me as related to rather "sociological" and "psychological" factors; and a qualification for a typical sound is not enough for designating a generalization; I tried to approach the issue in an experimental attitude. I had my ouds -of which I designed the soundboards for especially Arabian sound- played by some very famous Arab artists like Khalid Mohammed Ali, Sakher Hattar, Naseer Shamma, Omar Bashir, Mohammed Abuzekri, Ghassan Al-yousif, Dina Abdelhamid and many others.
I never received any negative evaluation from these artits as " it is not Arabian sound!"

First I join all those congratulations about your ouds, and I'm going to miss words to say how much I love your sounding results.
I'm only surprised to see in your collection "good for turkish and arabic tuning". Of course I know we can anyway tune an oud to both tuning, but if I tune my arabic oud to turkish...Well, to my ears, it still sound "arabic", I don't get this characteristic turkish sound.
May you precise this point?

Regards

Thank you suz_i_dil for pointing out this. I am designing some ouds' soundboards to be resonant for a wider range of frequency spectrum; so they become "good for turkish and arabic tuning"

Of course to make the oud produce characteristic arabic sound I design it in an intetionally particular way. Generally I design those particularly categorized turkish or arabian soundboards using two different particular methods for specially ordered ouds.

For a " 5 cents " contribution, as a player, I will just ad that those quality ouds are great sounding instruments.
This is what I call an outstanding quality, moreover in this range of price.
Thank you Mr Faruk !
