Rababs - a bit different


I noticed some nice videos in the treasury of music - YouTube. HereĀ“s a really old one instrument, looks quite similar to Seni rabab pictures of Seni Gharana (music tradition). I thought this instrument would be more or less extinct:

Another one, with a shape more like Afghan rabab, and with sympathetic strings the previous one seems to lack. Notice the magnificent beard :) :

Both have a deeper, mellower sound than Afghan rabab, IMHO. But listen to Ross Daly:

Does he use a lower tuning than most Afghans? I love the tune!
