Freeware Oud Tuner

I have written a very simple Oud tuner for the tuning. C# F# B E A . It was compiled as version 1.0 In Liberty Basic v 4.00. It is a LB executable (*.TKN) so you need the Liberty Basic runtime to run it. Which is availble http://www.libertybasic.com/lb400win.exe there for free. Simply run the installer file Then download lb400win.exe. and Install it. Once installed run LB and select from the top menu "Run ---> Run *.TKN" and select "C:\oudtuner\oudtuner.tkn" and it will run.

Hi,

This is a cool idea. I'm just wondering why you didn't include the D string? It would be helpful if you could over time add other common tunings too.

Keep up the good work. :D

Thanks!

Thanks! I will continue to develop this program. However in the mean time here's the MIDI file. (More reliable than the current program).

User Friendly

Here's a more user friendly version. (requires the *.oud files from above installer) Overide the old oudtuner.tkn with the new one.

Hi Josh,

I don't want to burst your bubble and I appreciate what you are doing. But you may be re-inventing the wheel here.

There are a number of shareware tuners available that not only output a reference tone, but also use the PC microphone to show the current tuning of each note on your instrument. Here are some URLs to some of these software devices:

http://www.fmjsoft.com/chromatia.html
http://www.musebook.com/?page=mbtuner
http://enableencore.com/encore/info.htm
http://www.cerlsoundgroup.org

All of these are either chromatic or allow the the user to choose his/her required notes.

Regards,

Greg

The list of software tuners that Greg posted is great, but they're all for Microsoft's cruddy excuse for an operating system. Does anything like this exist for Linux?
