Lessons in Maryland

I am looking for an oud teacher in Maryland for my wife, preferably in the Annapolis area, but OK if in the Greater Washington or Greater Baltimore area.

Also, can an Arabic oud be tuned to play in the Turkish/Armenian style?

Hi,

You can tune your oud like this from lowest to highest: D G A d g c

It's not a good idea to tune exactly like a Turkish oud (a whole step higher), but above the intervals are the same.

I'll contact my kanun teacher in the Towson area if he would teach or knows of a teacher for oud in the area.

Take care,

mav
