Fixed vs. Floating Bridge

I have a great Sukar #13 and am shopping for a new oud to add to my collection.
As you know the Sukar has a fixed bridge but I have been curious about Bashir type ouds; I've never played a floating bridge.
I've searched these forums and haven't found a thread that discusses the comparison of floating vs. fixed bridge ouds.
If someone can list a link that I've missed that would be great; otherwise my question stands...
...what are the most notable sound differences when comparing a fixed vs. floating bridge?
Thanks

Hey Zulu,

I have had many people asking about this question and I always refer to Aliouds post in this link as I have found it to be the best answer so far...

They sound different and they feel different, when you play them. I personally feel uncomfortable with a floating bridge, which I didn't expect before I tried it.

Regarding the sound difference, I think floating bridge ouds often sound a bit like a Flamenco guitar. Check Youtube videos about Naseer Shamma as an example.

Thanks for the feedback Aymara,

I checked out several floating oud videos and did not like the sound compared to fixed bridge.
It's a bit hard to tell the comparison from videos but I have to rely on that source because there's no place for me to try a Bashir type oud where I live. (Los Angeles)
The floating ouds sound too treble for my taste, I agree with your flamenco guitar comparison. I prefer a very bassy low and warm sound.
I've had my eye on Fadi Matta for a long time; I think I'll be contacting him about a fixed bridge oud.
Thanks for the help!
