New here

Greetings,
I'm Namarrgon, I'm pro guitar also saz player and sorry my english is horrible. I wish to play oud very seriously and as you know the first step is to get one. I have read many thread about beginner oud and I'm feel a bit confused now.

I would like to know if I can get a good instrument for 400€ online to start and later I will get more pro that I will test by myself. I'm interested both my arabic/turkish model.

I have seen the following ouds on ebay and I will be very grateful if a member could help me to choose. Allow me to give some links :
http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310213914342&... ( Oud from CEM, you have discuss here and some of you say it's good other say no it's bad, so difficult for me to know the truth )

http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200631950148&... ( here is a turkish model who seems better than CEM)

http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290578045938&... ( this oud is sell by a company that I trust as I have bought some very good saz from them)

http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390332144982&... ( This one seems to be from arabinstruments, this is arab model but this company seems to have also bad quality so difficult to know if this one is goor or not)

Thanks to all !

All the best,
Namarrgon

hello brother do your home work and get a oud made by a reputable maker and you will be very happy!!!!
but it will cost you a bit more than that ..
Do not buy a cheap oud you will be disapointed and do not buy from internet stores like arab instruments all you get is a decorative oud that can not be played

dkhoury35 is right, spend a bit more and get a decent oud that will serve you well. if you are a pro guitar player you wouldn't go out with a cheap guitar. 400 Euros is about $550 US dollars- for a bit more you could contact forum member Samir and discuss an oud with him-

or John-

see if they can do something for you.

also keep an eye on the buy/sell ouds section.
regards, MW

Dear Namarrgon,

I agree with Mathew's statement and advice you to add a couple of more hundreds to get a decent oud. I have been following Samir's ( Sabbassi) development and admire his work in terms of work quality, details, wood selection and price.

I think he has an Oud which is made recently and quite affordable for you budget. Contact him on this forum.

Hope you will achieve satisfaction on this forum :)

Thanks
Alan
