Interesting question. From the look and sound, the answer is definitely yes, isn't it? But the question is, is it much harder to work with in the
building process?

Hello,
as I know cocobolo is verry poisony, same as Wenge. Would be very carfully while sanding it.

Hi Guys,
Because of the oily nature of the cocobolo, it is very smooth ans crisp when planing the ribs, even the very cruly ones.
Bending is also not a big issue. but glueing the ribs together must be done with lot of care, cleaning and using alcohol and longer curing time.
But exactly as Matthias said, it is poisonous wood, but smell very nice. I always use dust mask with any kind of wood anyway. But the cocobolo without
a dusk must can give nose and skin irritations.
I will definetely will still work with cocobolo (I still have enouph for 5 ouds I think) as it is one of most beautiful woods around.'
This oud is now new and will be very crisp in a while and the cocobolo will show its capability as an accoustic wood for music instruments.

piano boards
yesterday, I've got 4 very old piano boards form the village piano dealer. What a gentelmen.
these are old german spruce tops.
form all this big board, I was able to get only 4 tops for ouds. and lot of braces.
I also just finished a new oud:
IND rosewood and Brasilian ironwood with spruce top.
I will put the strings and the pegs tomorrow or sometimes next week.
