A really good news to learn oud !

"A musical instrument like Guitar or Oud requires regular practice for about two years in order to reach a comfortable level of playing. Our goal is to help you play the instrument you like in a matter of days, instead of years."

-> http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/musicfn/id438904356?mt=8

Next : your iPhone writes a dissertation, goes and passes your exams, washes the car and keeps the kids at home ... :-S

I sense a bit of sarcasm in your voice :D I’m curious if anyone has tested this app.

And if anyone has tested it, I'm curious to hear him playing... after a few days of intensive training ;)

It's so surrealistic that I do not even understand what can be done with it.

Well,
I've been trying 4 a long time2 find a way to play good instantly. :)) A few days of intensive playing...
Unfortunatly, there is no such a thing 2 learn 2 play in a few days or months. If you are very talented and you practice intensively a few hours a day, you will reach your goal in a very short period - in a few years.
:rolleyes:

I agree with Marina! Oud is a way of life, not just an one-hour-a-week hobby!

"Delivered and not created by the musician, the taqsîm is the son of maqâm. It's the maqâm which improvises the musician and incites sound movements to flow from his fingers, sometimes tormented, sometimes lyrical (...)."

Nidaa Abou Mrad
From the booklet "Fawzi Sayeb in concert".

But here it is about taqsîm, "the son of maqâm", and I can conceive that others might be interested by something else... Anyway, spend a lifetime to understand the pre-existing condition of the maqâm would not be superfluous, and a second life, necessary, to implement it.

Hi there,

you can use the book for your tuning also - no problem. Just when you have higher notes - fa, sol etc..., you play it on your first string fa and not on do. The compositions are ok for your tuning too. Yuo can send me an email with specific question, but don't worry, just play - you have, at the end, just one string more - fa. Anyway, almost all the playing is done on do, sol, re and la. (kurdan, nawa, duka nad ashiran)

Lower bass strings and upper fa are cherry on cream. ;-)
