Ghadban floating bridge
Hi All
I’m selling my Nazih Ghadban floating bridge oud for £1,000 exc shipping. Details are as on the attached data sheet provided by Nazih.
This is a lovely sounding oud and, with a very deep and soft tone for a floating bridge (the sound is actually more towards a fixed bridge) but it has
really remarkable volume and projection. Bought directly from Nazih in Ras Baalbek, one careful owner. It has one or two minor scratches but is
otherwise in excellent condition and is a very well made and reliable instrument – excellent tuning stability. Currently strung with new Aquilas C-C
(not F-F as most floating bridges – I find it works very well this way but you can easily buy just the top aquila F stirngs if you want to change).
I’d much prefer to sell within the UK to avoid any shipment-related risks and allow the buyer to try before buying. Price includes a sukar case.

Nice oud and equally nice playing. I'm guessing the strings are fairly high relative to the face and/or neck right?

If you mean the action, not really - it's 3mm at the neck-body joint. Yes, like all floating bridge ouds, there's more space between the strings and
the face because of the raised fingerboard. That distance would be about 10mm at the bridge.

Interesting. I just noticed that your second course was rather mid-heavy and that tends to occur when the strings are farther from the face and/or
fingerboard (not sure how much each distance has to do with it yet). If you ever feel so inclined, put a lower bridge on it and see how the sound
changes. The second course tends to be the most sensitive when it comes to nylguts but the others will be affected to varying degrees. I've found that
PVFs tend to have less mids to begin with so all other things being equal a way to compensate for the mid hump of a nylgut string on a high bridge is
to put an equivalent PVF string. Anyway, you're trying to sell an oud so I'll go away now; good luck.
