Oud Story

So as most of you know, I was looking to upgrade my oud that my fiance had purchased for me for Christmas. ExtreamTarab had 2 Sukar ouds for sale. A model 8 and a model 212. Well, my fiance and I drove up to Canada on Friday from Long Island. I played both of them and chose the model 8. He took my old oud in trade to knock the price down some. Here's where it gets funny. When we arrived at the U.S border checkpoint we were questioned as to why we were in Canada for such a short time. Now, I admit that not many people would drive 6.5 hours to Canada to play and purchase an oud and then immediately drive back. They found it odd as well, because we were asked to turn off the car and exit the vehicle. My fiance and I were escorted into a search room and the vehicle was searched as well. After about 20 minutes we were allowed to get in our car to head home. I thought the trip was well worth it as I wanted to play the actual instruments. Also, I don't trust that they would not have been damaged in transit.

Just thought some of you might get a chuckle out of this.

Anthony

P.S. Thanks Ibrahim, the oud is amazing and my teacher loves it as well.

Happy to hear you and the oud arrived safely ;)
I'm really glad I was able to assist you and that you liked the instrument. After quite an experience I really hope you enjoy it and play it in good health...
