A pick-up for the oud
Hello fellow oudists,
I am looking for some advice on that most thorny problem of pick-ups.
The time has come where I'll have to start playing live and in a band environment, and I will need some serious volume for the oud.
Now, buying an electric oud could be an option, but it just doesn't sound too oudy, if you know what I mean. I am pondering the acquiral of a pick up.
I have always played electric, live, so how to amplify and acoustic instrument is quite a new thing for me.
I do not want to pre-amp or suchlike, do not want to fuss around with batteries. Something practical which does not feedback at high volume. A tall
order indeed. Would the famed Barcus Berry do the job? Or, is there such a thing as a non-feedbacking pick-up?
Any of you have any advice for me?
