Nikos xilouris official store - Athen
Hi
I will be at Athen this summer and I'd like to visit the Nikos Xilouris offical store. 
The adress is : Panepistimou 39 (Stoa Pesmatzoglou) Athens -
But that is not enough for find them with google map !! 
Somebody could give me informations to visit this shop ?! ( opening time - plan - etc ...)

The place is very central and close to Metro station "Panepistimio"
easy walk from every part in central Athens also
I dont think they sell intruments there , but at another store near the centre also

This second shop seems to be very interesting.
I don't search another oud. I'd like to find good CD, oud method, DVD ... Just surf on greek music
Do you know opening time of Xilouris store ? i will have just a small afternoon ...

the shop is right next to the instrument museum in the plaka area...a very easy 5 min walk the metro stop monastraki--up the hill to your right as you
exit the station... i believe they open 10 or 11 am but you should just email them to be sure...they are very warm and sweet people and there is
usually someone there that speaks english...they carry cds, books and instruments at this store...the other shop near the panepistimio metro stop is a
little harder to find ..i -just across the street from the metro--and in a building that houses several shops like a mini mall...they just carry cds
and books ...best of luck

In general small scale shops dont open the whole official opening hours.
I mean there is no need to open from 09.00 AM at Saturdays.
During summer it 's more flexible....
So you have to speak (via mail, or phone ) with the specific shop and tell them the day and the hour you are coming.
I guess you are coming in Crete for seminars in Labyrinth workshop???

I reserved a cheap hotel between Metro Omonia and Panepistimio. I am impatient to visit music shop !
I will send a mail to be sure for the opening hour.
Exactly Spartan ! I reserved for the seminar with Yurdal Tokcan.
I am very happy to do this year.  I m waiting since a long time ...
Do you know others oud player are coming in LMW ?

Yurdal's seminars are always very popoular and for good reason.
There will be a lot of oud players I hope economical crisis do not affect the seminars.
Personnaly I belong to the 1% that play arabic style oud in Greece so I cant participate (different tuning, different technique etc.)

Spartan, I began oud by arabic style and step by step i try to change toward turkish style. My oud is turkish but my string and my
tuning are arabic. So if you want you can learn some turkish effect and like me you'll change your set string before seminar ... So come on !!

one thing that I dont like in this style of oud is that they play oud like tanbur
but ofcourse is a personal matter of taste only.
I spend many years trying to find teacher and other musicians to play with (in Greece almost everybody plays turkish style/bolahenk tuning) so there
is no coming back !!
It's really impressive that there is no one seminar about arabic oud in Greece

Last year there were a seminar for arab oud. That was with Hazem Shaheen.
But for many reason they have had a bad or special experience with this teacher. I don't think they keep good feeling with him... They wrote an
article end of summer about that. Unfortunately i don't find this long article ...
I hope they follow to search arab oud teacher for next seminar. Many people practice oud in this style ...
