Hi.
I'm a Russian expat, currently studying here. It's my 3rd month and I plan to stay longer, for the full course, inshallah.
1. The cost per 1 month is 250 LE.
2. The styles are different, as there are different trainers. The course itself depends upon your current level.

3. They don't do any accomodation. You look for yourself. I can give you some advice upon that.
The normal price for decent apartments in Cairo (for a foreigner) is 1000-1500 LE (judging from my experience). Don't go for more.
4. You don't need books there. The learning is by ear / by memory. But they can print you some scores if you need it.
Studying in the Beit is a great thing. But please bear in mind:
- Beit al Aoud is a non-governmental organization. So you can't get a student visa just because you study there.
- Prepare yourself for such things as "arabic time", "arabic promises" and other things like "maybe tomorrow if god wants to". This is normal for
Egypt.

They also teach oud in the Cairo Opera and Giza Music College.
There are some decent private teachers around Cairo, too.
And yes, you'd better learn some Arabic.
This will help you a lot in your studies, as well as in your everyday life.
2 Ameer:
You haven't been to Tuva, man) Tuvan time is the biggest joke. They have morning, afternoon and evening. That's all)

Ah, yes, the books.
As I've already mentioned, you won't need any. Get your photo/video-camera ready for videotaping and practice your solfegio skills
Anyway, Jabakji's Method of Oriental Lute is a great book, imho.

Lute, the full course is 2-3 years (or even more).
As I've said, depending on your skills and level.
