Possible Trade? Sale? Persian Tar, Kurdish Tanboor, Chinese Ruan.

Hello,

We are an ethnic music project in Tokyo and have been exploring instruments from all over the Silk Road region for a couple years.

Photos here.

I have four really amazing instruments that we don't play often enough and I need to make space to try some new things. Especially considering the Oud and Lavta now.

So I thought we could post them here and see if anyone is interested.

1. Persian Tar: Made in Iran. Mulberry body, Apricot neck, very nice light tone neck. Traditional gut frets and semi-hard case. I paid about $800 for this a little over a year ago. It is very nice and in perfect condition.

2. Persian Tar: This one was customized for the humidity here in Tokyo. It has artificial frets, a tighter skin and a spare bridge. Reddish finish over Mulberry and Apricot neck. New style peg box and old style hard case. This one was $800 as well.

3. Very hard to get proper Kurdish solid body Tanboor. Made my Rhamadi in Tehran it has been checked by my teacher who is a master under Ustad Moradi in Iran. Great sound, beautiful instrument. This one was $700 a year ago. My teacher gave me an instrument that was played by Ustad Moradi, so as much as I love the Rhamadi Tanboor, to respect my teacher I play the one he gave me and want this one to have a full time player.

These are either up for sale or for trade. I would like a decent Oud or Lavta. Also open to other ideas. And they are for sale as well, we can talk about pricing offline.

Photos are too heavy for here. So if you are interested, get in touch here and I will send you a download file for the photos.

Hope someone out there can help me get these adopted to good homes.

Cheers,

Kelly

I have added a few more photos of instruments we have for sale or trade. Included here is a very rare Herati Dotar from Afghanistan.
