that Arabic inscription in the Palermo cathedral blew my mind! I am actually astonished that it remained there, untouched by the ecclesiastical
authorities and un-defaced by the catholic vulgus, for more than 1000 years! I wonder why, since any vestige of Islamic presence was removed,
sometimes taking great pains in order to do so (the city of Lucera, for example, an Islamic enclave in the middle of a Catholic territory, was raized
to the ground and the inhabitants deported), thouroughly and completely......much to Italian and European knowledge's chagrin.....
