Another Bashraf Iraq

Another old Bashraf in Iraq.

Here is the Kudsi Erguner ensemble video playing the piece:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaFxWOCts-E

Just found it by accident today, good timing as I transposed this piece two days ago.

(They are playing in modern tuning of course, and have altered the note kaba jahargah (low F) to kaba nim Hijaz (F+)
Kudsi Erguner and co' are still excellent as usual though.

Nice, thanks
these pieces are like a hidden treasure.
I like the deep, warm and bassy sound of this maqam

the melody movement is staying close to the lower tetrachord most of the time.
dont feel a Bayati flavor
there is no much action in the octave also.

On the 2nd khana there is a modulation on Isfahan ...am I wrong?

I really like this maqam too.

The modulation in the second khana is to Rahat El Arwah via Rast on nawa (with hijaz note (F#) not nim hijaz (F+).

(The note nim hijaz is nowhere to be found in the Cantemir collection).

The third khana modulates to Segah.

I just ordered this new album yesterday:

This looks very good, it has the Iraq piece on it too.
