Bosnian Shargiya (Sargija) Needs repair
Here is a Bosnian Shargiya. I bought it a couple of years ago, in the mess its in, for 100 euros. I bought it in Croatia from an old Bosnian guy who
doesn't play anymore because of arthritis, this Shargiya had been lying around collecting dust. The face is in 3 pieces and the neck ends where the
head stock should be. I was planning to fix it up but never found the time, now I am moving country and don't have the time. Its too much to take it
and to be honest I can't really be bothered to fix it anymore.
It is 50 Euros but not including shipping, (it is very light so wouldn't be expensive)
I was told it is made from cherry tree wood body and neck and that the face is pine which has been oiled. There is no bridge, but it should have a
floating bridge made also from cherry usually.
Anyway, I know its not Oud but I thought perhaps someone might be interested in an interesting project. I will post some clips of how Shargiya sounds
(not this one of course) and also how its built soon.

Hi Teslim,
I did think to put the dimensions up and then completely forgot about it!
Here they are:
Length of bowl 39.5cm
Width 20.5cm at widest point
Depth 15-16cm
Neck Length from bowl joint: 42.5cm
I justr checked a few online shipping companies and the prices are rediculous!!! The instrument weighs about 0.5kg and with packaging would not be
more than 1.5kg, if you want to check your self you can. I will head to the post office tomorrow and see what they quote me, and post again then.

Sorry its taken awhile, the shipping to the USA will not be less than approx. $300. At least I cannot find cheaper. If you think it is worth it for
you I am more than happy to send it but I get a feeling it might be a bit too expensive.
