10 cd for $ 70, not a bad deal. I just wonder if all CDs are listenable ...

Thank you chaldo,

You're more perceptive than me looking at the source (AMAR). Fortunately I have not pulled out my wallet yet :)

This website is really interesting, I found my happiness in this web page -> http://www.amar-foundation.org/data/artists-and-music/

Abdo al Hamuli, Muhamad Othman, Abdel Hay Hilmi, etc.

Let's be archaic, it is with the old records that we make the best music!

I have quite a few of his recordings on my computer in mp3 format.
Granted, they are probably from an earlier digital conversion
with pops and cracks here and there, but they are decent enough
to enjoy this great monument of the Nahda.

I'm sure these recordings have undergone some serious cleanup
to be priced at 60-70$. I wish I could afford it.

I would definitely recommend this set. His rendition of Dawr "Fouadi
'Amru Agib" (Dilnashin) is utterly amazing. Nearly 18 minutes of pure
tarab. :xtreme:

I just received the box, Kamal Kassar was very diligent. It's nice and ... BIG! Little deception about the plastic inside: it couldn't bear shipping and it's broken in several spots. A bit frustrating because I won't be able to read one of the 2 books which is in Arabic only (320 pages). I'll catch up on the smallest in English / French. BTW, I'm listening to "Fu'adi amro 'agib" and this is the most important :)
