Joseph Tawadros Signature series oud

Hey fellow oud enthusiasts,

Has anybody tried out or seen in person the JT Signature Series oud being put out by Veysel Sarikus? It looks and sounds amazing on YouTube and the price is reasonable. I'm going to make my first serious oud purchase and I am considering this. Any opinions?

Here's a link to the specs

Thanks!

Hi alejofar :wavey:

yes, I`ve seen it, tried it out on a JT concert in Heidelberg/Germany,ordered it and picked it up in Istanbul a year ago.
After getting used to the smaller distances between the courses and the high ff course, I fell in love more and more with this perfect oud.
Brilliant playability, amazing sound-espacially for jazzy-arab-fusion-,very easy to tune!!

After playing this beautty for a year, the only thing I`d change is the low F into FF.
I thought the fingerboard is too wide than, but with my pan-like hands it`ll be no problem.

The good thing about the single C and F course is, that it is easy to change the tuning. I often tune the low C to A and the low F to D.
That opens many possibilitys if I play with a band.

All in all I can really recommend the JT signature oud.

Cheers,

Marcus

Thanks Marcus!

That's kind of what I'm looking for. A jazzy-fusion oud that I can play in many settings. Not just Arabic music.

Thanks for your input

Cheers

Hi Marcus, did you get it with the 61.5cm scale size? I am also thinking of getting the JT Signature oud, but I am currently using a 58.5 scale size oud.

Thanks,

Ali-

Hi Ali :wavey:
yes, mine have a 61,5 cm scale.
I`m shure it`ll be no problem to get a shorter scale if you speak with Veysel.
They make more türkish ouds than arabic ones,I think, and the standard turkish scale is 58,5cm anyway.

Cheers,
Marcus
