Transducer for Setar

Hi all,
I am wanting to get a clip-on/stick-on transducer for use with a Persian Setar and I wondered if anyone has had any experince with this? Would I need a 'special' thing or would a standard transducer for a guitar or whatever work equally well? I attach a pic. of a guitar transducer that is also recommended for Indian Sitar... I suppose this would work!? Anyway, if some one has a good idea...

thanks in advance
Bodhi

Hi Bodhi,

This is a good start. It works but most likely the volume will be very weak. If this is the way you want to go, you would probably need to plug this into a preamp or some sort of DI box that amplifies the output. What I find gets lost with these pickups is the sound of your pick or finger, the attack is lost. If you have more money to spend, I would recommend a mini condenser mic with phantom power. The problem with a mini condenser mic is that it will be difficult to fix to your setar, since it doesn't have any sound holes. Good luck!
