mother of pearl ouds … coming very soon !


hello oud lovers i just wanted to share with you my 5 new MOP bowls that i finished (not entirely done by me to be honest, but with the assistance of a professional painter)

, they will be finished after 2 weeks aprox

I've named them : 1) big flower 2) small flowers 3) spiral

4) dancer 5) woman playing

please tell me ur opinion , its I'important for me

also if you are interested in one of these models let me know

Hi,

In general I like mother of pearl decoration, but I am not sure about the painting over large sections of mother of pearl surfaces.

I much prefer small mother of pearl inlays over wood veneer.

Also, this kind of work needs to be done with extreme precision and regularity. If we look at the lines in the paintings they are not regularly made, some sections are wider than others, or some patterns are larger than others in the same series. It looks a bit "candide", unless this is the effect that was intended.

Just my opinion, but you asked for it! :)

Hi Francois, yes indeed you are right in some points , but dont forget that it is a hand made work , but thanks for your comment , i am actually working on the type you are talking about , without paintings , only islamic patterns of mop , it takes longer to make than those , but once the bowl is finish will show it to you :)
but the "dancer" is quite similar to Mike's oud , agree ? :)
