A brief introduction to maqam theory

Hello hello,

I have written a brief introduction to maqam theory and modulation here:

http://www.oudforguitarists.com/arabic-maqam-theory/

It has some soundfiles, and it also discusses Persian music in relation to Arabic music.
I would love to get your thoughts on it!

Navid

Nice material, thanks! Very useful to starters. And for people with experience on guitar, especially those playing blues or jazz, it allows us to see the similarities between the arabic and western musical structures, for example when using the pentatonic scale and the modes.
