Notes on the first oud built by Sebastian Stenzel

Hello,
Here's a link to an article on the story of how the first oud built by Sebastian Stenzel came into life... I liked it and thought you might like it too.

Best wishes
Robert

Hi Rojaros, i like the sound and look of the oud, both are very beautiful. it is also evident that the oud is of excellent craftsmanship. If I had not seen pictures of this i wold have thought it had a floating bridge as it has a very crisp sound.
thanks for the clip.

Thanks Hamed ...

yes, the craftsmanship of Mr. Stenzel is really without equal. I haven't seen terribly many ouds, but none I have seen comes even close.
But I have seen really many classical guitars and I know that Mr Stenzels' guitars are on absolutely highest level, though the building standard of guitars is generally very high these days ...
He has done a lot of development to get this crispness in his guitars by using some otherwise unknown techniques for the top; as he say, it is easy to get a lot of bass from a guitar, but very hard to have trebles that are equally strong and musically nice at the same time.

All his research which made his guitars so famous also cam in into the construction of this oud.
I just posted two other improvisations on this oud:

the second is played with a softer horn risha and the third with an even much softer turkish plastic risha. Even with that there is a lot of singing trebles...

soft horn risha
Oud Improvisation # 02

very soft turkish plastic risha
Oud Imprivisation # 03

best wishes
Robert
