Anyone want to try to play the Charlie Brown AKA Peanuts theme song on the oud?

This may sound cheesy but watching all these Charlie Brown and Peanuts Christmas specials has me thinking that the the Charlie Brown theme music would sound pretty nice if played on the oud. I think it would take me forver if i composed it myself as I am a beginner but maybe some seasoned players on the post would like to give it a try. I'll try myself but i hope someone can pull it off, I'll be curious to hear how it comes out. Anyone up for the challenge?

"Good Grief" and Xmas Songs on The Oud

So funny about the Peanuts theme, "Good Grief" on the oud: I believed I was the only weirdo oudist in the world who played this--even as a joke! It's easy because the bass line matches my open-string tuning (C-G-A). Actually, Vince Guaraldi (http://www.vinceguaraldi.com/), who wrote and performed most of the Peanuts sounds tracks was a pretty good legitimate jazz pianist.

On the subject of Xmas songs on the oud: I always thought "The Little Drummer Boy" could really rock with a strong malfouf or khaliji beat.

One of my teachers, L.A.-based Palestinian oudist Naser Musa, just came out with an oud recording of Xmas music: "Christmas and Beyond" (http://www.rashid.com/search_result.asp?product_ID=XMASMUSA)

Some of the best Christian Middle Eastern music has been recorded by the Lebanese Maronite nun, Marie Keyrouz. Check out her web page, where you can hear samples: http://www.keyrouz.com

Merry Christmas to my Christian (especially Eastern Christian) Cousins,
John "Udi Yohanan" Erlich:wavey:

Hello John. Merry Christmas to you too. When you say "Eastern Christian" do you mean Orthodox?

:)

Hi Elie,

I said "Christian cousins" because I'm Jewish. I noted "Eastern" Christians, which I believe includes Greek Orthodox, Eastern Catholics, Greek Catholics/Melechites, Maronites, Assyrians and Chaldeans, Copts, etc. because I feel a special affinity for them.

Happy Holiday,
John:)
