early oud/medieval lute?


Came across an interesting clip of what appears to be a design built on the medieval lute or early oud. Apparently early ouds did have frets. The man is playing it with what looks like a risha, and the music does start out sounding similiar to an oud taqsim before it moves into more European medieval sounding music.

Looks more like a lavta.

The earlier pieces are vaguely familiar but I can't put a name to them. The piece he finishes with is "Stella Splendens" from the Llibre Vermell of Montserrat. It's usually played like this:

Whatever, I think it really needs the text. All of those have stunning singers who put all they've got into it.
