How to make a flat backed Oud in 5 minutes!

This old oud was badly broken, the customer wanted a flat backed oud - so.... I cat it out

Very novel! How did you determine the cutting line? Submerge in a bucket of paint or something like that?
Must be difficult to insert a continuous sealing lip given the high curvature at the neck end?

That´s really a cool thing... to make it and the result itself !

There are tree trunks glued as bracings I think :))

Yaron... I see the top is broken... are you trying a new one ?

The top ins indede broken... I fixed it and the sound is very good, the oud is already back to my customer

Luthier Sadettin Sandi also make something like that but not as a repair. Seen on ebay.. This one is new.
