Large Greek Music Sheet Archive

Yassas Fellow Oud Maniacs :)

I stumbled onto this large archive of Greek music sheets the other day and thought I should spread the word: http://bouzoukispot.com/tabs.php

Also, would any of the fluent Greek speakers in the Forums be kind enough to post the Greek phrase (in Greek), "Smyrnaic music sheets" or "scores"? I would like to trying searching the web, but don't know the colloquial expression corresponding to the Arabic نوتة, Farsi نوت, Turkish notları, and Hebrew תווים.

Efharisto poli in advance!

Peace out,
"Udi" John

I came across another substantial archive of Greek music sheets - http://freepartitoura.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html . The sheets are very clean and easy to read. This archive appears to be mostly pop music, but some of the songs for which I could find YouTube recordings are pretty good. The listings are only in Greek; see the red-colored links on the right side.

I have attached a sample.

Peace out,
"Udi" John

yasou file John

thanks for the links
the last one, has many greek pieces, from rembetiko, traditional, urban (later rembetiko) and some pop and western influenced .

Even the most modern pieces played by tempered instruments like boubouki, still use the modal system, like maqam, but played tempered.

It will be a nice work, if someone cover all these pieces using oud, qanun and the non-tempered intervals.

1. A few traditional pieces (some intrumental) here
http://www.panaccordeon.gr/accordion/harmonica/sheets.html

2. Here 132 Rembetiko pieces (greek urban music until 40's)

Yassou Spartan,

Thanks for posting those links.

Yes...I was also thinking many of these songs could played well on traditional Near Eastern instruments. I am more of an Arabic-style oud player, but I been exploring Turkish, Greek, and Persian music more lately, particularly as a means of showing my student some different Near Eastern approaches to melody and melodic embellishment.

The Sheet Music Daily site - http://www.sheetmusicdaily.com/free-download-greek-sheet-music-a-e/ - also has many, many Greek music sheets, though these are mostly piano arrangements.

I also seem to have been more successful searching for Greek music on the web using the word for "scores," "Παρτιτουρών," rather than "notes."

Peace out,
"Outi Yiannis"

speaking about music sheets , the following 2 books are among the best
they have a huge repertoire of rembetiko songs (urban music before the II world war)
the sheets are written for oud and the other instruments, using the turkish intervals

Excellent analysis , but only in greek

Hi Navid! Any luck finding substantial on-line sources for Persian music?

Peace out,
