Old Oud from Palestine 1961?

I have an old Oud built in Nazareth Palestine in 1961, I believe? I have photos here of the heart shaped tag inside and the Oud. I am hoping someone can me more about it and its maker.

Hassan Mohamed Zayoud Oud

Thank you Ali.

Does anybody know anything about Hassan Mohamed Zayoud's Ouds? The one I have is beautiful and has a great sound. Everyone who has seen it including a local luthier who did some repairs on it and my Oud teacher say it is a unique well built Oud. I wonder if there many others made by him around and what the general outlook is on there quality.

Can you share with us a photo of the bowl? I've never heard of this maker.. Najib Shaheen has not heard of this maker either, and hes from Haifa. However he says the pickguard is in the style of Ameen Haddad, a maker from Haifa.

I haven't either and I live in Nazareth !!
I'm aware of Ali Zayoud (some pronounce: Zyoud) who made some ouds in the past, but was more famous for being oud tutor & musician. Only few local musicians &/or oud junkies are still in touch with the old man. I suppose that he's still alive, so we may ask him about this relative.

I agree with John & Najib as to the pickguard.

Yours indeed

1961 Hassan Mohamed Zayoud Oud

Here is a photo of the bowl.

I want to thank you all for your feedback.

I am absolute Oud Junkie. Being Syrian, I grew up with many relatives who played the Oud. I was always fascinated with the beautiful sound they created. The only unfortunate thing is that I waited until the age of 41 to finally start taking lessons to learn how to play. This old Oud built by Hassan Mohamed Zayoud in Nazareth, Palestine in 1961 was given to me by my late uncle Sam. I have always cherished it for the only reason that it was a gift from him. Unfortunately my family is not quite sure how he acquired it. He was a big supporter of Arab students who came to Portland Oregon for college from all over the Arab world. They believe it may have come from a Palestinian student who may have gave it to him as a gift for his support in his education.

Anyway, being part of an Oud community like this and getting these responses from you all is really neat. I am really glad I became a member.:applause:
