Do regular Pyramid Orange and Aquila 130 fit on floating bridge oud ?
Hi guys, I didn't really wanted to open new topic, but I searched all the forums and I couldn't find any answer...
So, I have a floating bridge oud and the lenght from nut to bottom of oud is 70 cm. The scale (from nut to bridge) is 58.5 cm.
What I want to know is could I put Aquila 130 nylgut strings on my oud, or Pyramid Orange set ? Meaning are they long enough for my oud ?
Does anyone know the lenght of these strings ? I want the low C-c Arabic tuning.
I've asked the producers and some sellers but I didn't got the answer ?
Anybody have any thoughts or experiences ?

Hey Sativa, one more thing to notice, I've just tried for the first time the Aquila's 13O set on my 60cm oud (fixed bridge) and they're very light.
I'm not sure that they would work with a so short scale length oud. Seems to me that they'll be very loose. Probably the 9O set will work best for
your oud, but let other more experienced members confirm that. In any case, if it's possible you can start experimenting with the 13O and if not
comfortable, try the 9O.
Aside from that, the strings are great, definitely better than Pyramid's oranges, specially in the trebles.

That's pretty short, any set of strings should be long enough. Some longer floating bridge ouds need longer strings.
Since floating bridge ouds can handle higher tension, the 9o might make sense. I think Aquila has tweaked the tension a bit . . . the 9o used to be
very heavy but I think they are more "normal" now.
Every oud responds a bit differently to tension . . . 3kg might seem perfect on one oud and feel super-light on another. One oud might be great at
4kg, while another would collapse under the tension.

Thanks for clarifying Brian. I tried the 13O and feels very light on a 60cm scale length. Bought the 13O because of having read that the 9O "normal"
was very heavy and "light" was the normal, but will try the 9O and see how it goes.
