Decided on Sabsaby

sharing my final oud decision with you guys.

After a long research and conversations with several oud makers i finally decided that Mr. Hussain Sabsaby can make the sound and build quality i'm looking for. it was'nt the easiest decision in the world. there are lots of fantastic oud makers. it comes down to a balance or a formula you are looking for: sound, build quality, cost, time needed to get the oud ready and the ability to communicate well with the maker + other factors

Being an excellent player himself, it's not difficult for Sabsaby to understand what oud players looking for in a oud .. it was easy for me to communicate with him and get straight forward answers.

I've never played any of his oud before. but i spent lot of time listening to his work on his youtube channel.
my final judgment will come after receiving and playing the oud.
i think ordering from distance is a gamble no matter what.

I ordered a single hole, fixed bridge arabic oud.
58.5 string length
36 oud width
back = maple
top= Canadian cedar
fingerboard and pegs: ebony
and some aesthetic touches which the maker didn't ask extra fees for.

Sabsaby told me the oud will be ready in about 20 days.

my oud should look and sound something like this:

have a good day everyone

thanks danieletarab
Hussain Sabsaby is from syria, he gained some popularity as a luthier in the past few years, but he has been in the music field for longer time.

the oud in the video (maple back, cedar top) costs around 1800$ with hardcase and shippment.

wulnut oud costs 1500$ hardcase and shipment included.

thats what i was quoted

I would be very interested to see/hear the oud once it arrives. I've admired his work for a while and thought about trying one of his fixed bridges.

Please post a sound/video file when you get it. His videos all seem to be on a mobile phone and maybe I would be convinced by a better recording!
